Super Paper Mario -- Chapter 8-1: The Impending Doom

Atop Flopside Tower is a solitary ominous door. Nolrem is also there, saying it's the final door. It's the eight Pure Hearts vs. the Dark Prognosticus and Castle Bleck awaits. Merlon appears, saying that on the last page of the Light Prognosticus it says that only those who have not abandoned hope can turn back the prophecy of doom. They walk forward into the future, no matter how dark and uncertain. Nolrem says they fought all this way because they believed the future could be bright. He can't go through the door with them, but sends them with all the hope in his heart. Peach thanks both of them and Luigi says to leave it to them. Bowser asks if they're going to group-hug and has had enough of the pep talks. He's doing this for himself.

Merlon says he doesn't know what's going on in Tippi's mind, but suggests that she stay behind if this is too hard for her. Tippi says she's going, having decided that she must do this. Merlon wonders what would happen if her memory returns and says she's grown so strong and changed so much. He says she must return safely to him. Tippi says she will go and defeat Count Bleck and save all worlds from destruction. The ground shakes. Nolrem tells them to hurry as all worlds may not have much time. In that black span of nothing, they will find Castle Bleck. They may face battles harder than any they've endured thus far. Once they feel ready, they should go forward. Merlon tells them all, Tippi included, to be strong. When you're ready, go through the door.

After finding every Pure Heart, the band of heroes set off for Castle Bleck. The stakes were high as the ominous void grew larger and the end drew near. Could Mario and friends stave off the inevitable and overturn the prophecy? What strange twist of fate awaited Tippi and Count Bleck? These thoughts plagued the minds of our heroes as the curtain rose on the final act...

The heroes find themselves at the Castle Bleck Entry. Castle Bleck looms, a black castle with a white outline and a cracked door. Flip into 3D to go through the door. The inside of Castle Bleck, as we've already seen, is black. This makes it sometimes difficult to distinguish enemies such as Magiblots, which are in the first area. There are also Koopatrols in the first room. To the right is a door. Through it, you'll find stairs with Goombas, Boomerang Bros. The door in the middle takes you outside where there are Paratroopas and Koopas. Go back inside and through the door at the top of the stairs and you'll find Red Is and Mr. Is. Run around them in 3D to defeat them. To the far right is a locked door. Walk a short distance to the left and Super Jump up to a door that leads to the outside.

Super Jump to the left to find two chests with a Long-Last Shake and a Stopwatch. Super Jump to the right, then float to the right to a pipe. Go through the pipe and you'll find Magiblots and Soopa Strikers in a narrow hallway. They're even in 3D. On the other side is a chest with a Castle Bleck Key. Go back through the pipe and go through the door, then unlock the door to the right. There are Dry Bones here, as well as Magikoopas, Gawbuses, Tech Cursyas, and Heavy Cursyas.

Go through the door and you'll find Magiblots and Fire Bros on the stairs. At the top are a set of five white torches. Take note of which ones are lit. Go up another set of stairs, which has Koopatrols at the top. The item block contains an Ultra Shroom. There's a Save Block nearby. Go through the door and you'll find large white torches. Have Bowser light the same ones as in the previous room and a large set of stairs is drawn in. Flip into 3D to go through the door.

Someone says "Harble-deh!" It's O'Chunks, who never thought they would make it here. He says the heroes shouldn't have been a pain. He has to hit them with the full force of his chunks. Bowser calls that big talk for a chump that gets stomped again and again. He says chunky boy is going down. O'Chunks tells him to prove it in a wrestling match of the ages. Bowser says he'll take on O'Chunks alone. Peach asks if he's sure and he says he's had egg-salad sandwhiches chunkier than him. He tells her to step back and watch how a totally awesome tyrant gets business done. The bros and Peach leave. O'Chunks says he'll hurtle into him with the force of a massive, hairy comet. He grows in size and Bowser is shocked. O'Chunks says Bowser wasn't expecting that. It's time to rumble.

O'Chunks has 100 HP and 4 attack. Because I went through the Pit of 100 Trials once in Flipside and twice in Flopside, I am now level 27, making Bowser incredibly powerful. Two blasts of fire breath doing 60 damage each beat him easily. When you win, O'Chunks shrinks down to normal size, wondering how Bowser could be chunkier than him as he's nothing but a turtle. He doesn't know how he can go on living with the shame of it all. He asks Bowser to let him keep his dignity as his game ends by finishing him off quickly. Bowser says there's no shame in being smacked down by a huge, studly boss. The ground shakes and the ceiling starts lowering. O'Chunks holds it up. Bowser asks why he saved them. O'Chunks tells them to get out of there. Bowser asks why he's doing that for them and O'Chunks says they beat him so they earned the right to pass. Bowser says he has more chunks in his head than he thought and holds up the ceiling as well. O'Chunks asks what he's doing. Bowser tells the bros to get the princess into the next room immediately. Luigi tries to protest, but Bowser barks at them to go. Peach agrees after a long pause and they leave. Bowser tells O'Chunks to go, too. He can hold up the ceiling all day. O'Chunks says he stole his line and that Bowser's hands are quivering. There's no need for Bowser to be a tough guy, so he should go. Bowser says he is a tough guy and tells O'Chunks to get out. Both of them tell each other to go and the ground shakes even more.

On the other side of the door, the bros and Peach hear a thud. Luigi calls to Bowser and checks the door, saying it won't budge. Peach says they have to keep going as there isn't much time. She's not worried about Bowser; he's not easy to get rid of. Luigi agrees, saying he's survived worse. Peach says they must move on to find Count Bleck. Bowser is no longer in the party, lost to them from a battle of machismo. The star is just to the right.

Super Paper Mario -- Flopside Pit of 100 Trials

After clearing the Flipside Pit of 100 Trials, the Flopside Pit of 100 Trials becomes accessible. It's on the same floor as the Flipside Pit. I recommend bringing along 6 Emergency Rations for this dungeon. The strategy is pretty much the same, but all of the enemies are dark versions, which have higher HP and attack. Keeping healed is crucial so you can save your Emergency Rations for when you really need it. You should also take advantage of the defense boosting items, such as Turtley Leaves, Courage Shells, and Block Blocks. I also recommend getting any Life Shrooms available to you (from Fuzzies or Flimm).

Here are examples of what I found on the floors. Again, all enemies are dark versions.

100. At the bottom, someone says that they've waited for the heroes. They say the heroes have done well and their bravery has been noticed. Whoever's talking is a servant of the Ancients who is to give power to the true heroes. The heroes have passed the 100 trials behind them, but whether they are the true heroes of legend is to bee seen. The heroes are issued a new challenge and a pipe appears. It will lead them out of the dungeon. The challenge is to go through the Flopside Pit of 100 Trials again and they will be recognized as the true heroes. Yes, that means you have to go through all that again to get the power. Heal and restock on items, then get going.

When you return, whoever's there says they'll come clean. They were created by the Ancients, but they don't work for them. They work for their own cursed powers. This is Shadoo, who has been testing the heroes to study them. Shadoo says the heroes' clones are complete. He will beat the heroes and take their place.

All of the clones have 100 HP and 10 attack, making them very powerful. You'll want to have at least one Emergency Ration or some other item that can restore a lot of HP. I also found it very useful to have a couple of Block Blocks in my inventory. The first clone is Dark Luigi. He can Super Jump as the real Luigi can. Next is Dark Bowser, then Dark Peach, then Dark Mario. What you'll want to do is back the clone into a corner with Barry or a Block Block to keep them from attacking you, then use Bowser's fire breath. Two Block Blocks should last you most if not the entire fight. I had four in my inventory. This is a tough fight. You'll get a lot of points for defeating each clone. Once you defeat them all, 8 chests will appear. They contain Mario, Dark Mario, Peach (1), Dark Peach, Bowser (1), Dark Bowser, Luigi, and Dark Luigi cards. This will double each hero's attack power. Shadoo indeed gives them a new power: the power for Mario to remain in 3D indefinitely. You now no longer need to worry about losing health by being in 3D for too long, which is very useful. Open all the chests to make a pipe appear so you can exit and save. Next, prepare for the final chapter and the final battle.

Super Paper Mario -- Flipside Pit of 100 Trials

It's time to take on the Pit of 100 Trials. To prepare, I made five Emergency Rations, items that heal 50 HP in this area, and 10 HP elsewhere. They are made by having Dyllis of Hot Fraun in Flopside cook Cake Mix (purchased in the Itty Bits on B1 of Flipside) and a Fire Burst, purchased at Howzit's shop on the second floor of Flipside.

To open up the pits, go to B2 of Flipside and use Luigi to hit the switch. This moves some blocks out of the way so you can reach a pipe. Accept the challenge to start. There are 90 floors with enemies. All you have to do is defeat the enemy with the key to unlock the door. Which enemy has the key is random, so you may find the key quickly or slowly. You have 5 minutes to clear each floor, but you'll want to take much less time. My successful run too about 1 hour and 18 minutes. You'll also want to execute Stylish attacks when possible for extra points so you'll level up and heal faster. Each floor is a 2D area designed to look like a Game & Watch screen. The background will represent each of the Pure Hearts the heroes obtained.

A general strategy is to move around on Carrie and have Bowser burn every enemy in sight with his fire breath. You may want to switch to Mario to deal with the fact that the platforms are close to each other vertically, which makes platforming with Bowser difficult. Mario's also good for dealing with enemies that flip and moving around quickly. The platforms are not usable in 3D, which can make reaching the door a little easier. If this doesn't work, use the pipes to move from one side to the other. Use Boomer on flameproof enemies. Luigi is good for enemies that are too close to the edges of platforms. Stay healed and only use the Emergency Rations when you need to. Some enemies will drop items and Flimm may appear on certain floors (multiples of 10).

Here is a list of the enemies I encountered. I may have missed some if I got the key and reached the door quickly enough to not need to look around.

5. Goombas and Gloombas

99. Red, Blue, and Yellow Magiblots

100. At the bottom of the pit, you'll find an area that looks like Fractail's area. Walk to the right and someone asks, "Who's that?!" A dragon is drawn in. It's the wrathful god, Wracktail. The Ancients locked him in here. Wracktail asks why the heroes woke him up. It will punish them with death to make them understand the wrath of the gods. It has an unknown amount of HP and 10 attack. Tippi says he's a prototype of Fracktail. The antenna is the weak spot. Wracktail behaves the same way as Fracktail does. Flip to get on Wracktail's back when it approaches from the right. You can still throw the Wrackles on its back at the antenna, but since Luigi's on the team, you can Super Jump to reach the antenna and combo stomp it, racking up extra points by being Stylish. When he's defeated, he says he's done, but the heroes have not yet won. He's not the only monster the Ancients created. A greater terror awaits them in the Flopside Pit of 100 Trials. It explodes and an chest appears.

Open the chest and someone says, "Brrrrrrrrr!" This is one of the last times things get funky. The missile-shaped Pixl says they defeated that monster of a dragon. It says it's crazy that the heroes cleared the other 99 rooms and it's impressed. It gives the heroes a round of applause. The Pixl says to stay on their toes for what's ahead and that they must treasure life. Fate brought them together here and it will lend them it's power. His name is Dashell and he joins the party. The heroes can now move around at higher speeds than with Carrie, but without protection from spikes. Dashell says to dash and shuffle to dodge the fiercest attacks. He's survived many a battle by fleeing. He'll help them run into a more peaceful world. Use the pipe to exit and save your game. Congratulations! Now restock on Emergency Rations and head to B2 of Flopside.

Super Paper Mario -- Interlude After Chapter 7

In Castle Bleck, the count is stunned by a report. "WHAT?! ... Spat Count Bleck in utter disbelief. Surely this news cannot be true! The heroes still live?" Dimentio tells him, in a sing-song voice that it's true and the heroes will be here before long. O'Chunks wonders why they're just sitting there. He suggest throwing the heroes a welcome party. He'll bring the punch. Mimi wants to party with the party poopers. She and O'Chunks leave. Dimentio's not one to miss a party, so he prepares to leave. Before he does, he asks Count Bleck if the name "Blumiere" rings a bell. "Where did you hear that name, Dimentio?!" Dimentio explains that the mustache man's Pixl kept talking about needing to stop Blumiere. He supposes there's no reason to mind the ramblings of a Pixl and leaves. Nastasia reminds Count Bleck that there's still time to stop the prophecy from destroying everything if the Pixl is who Count Bleck thinks it is. If she's really alive, Nastasia says he has to stop all of this. "You know not what you are saying, Nastasia. The prophecy can no longer be stopped by Count Bleck. No one can stop it. Nastasia agrees with what he's saying, but says she must be away, calling him Lord Blumiere. "Bleh heh heh heh heh... The man known as Blumiere died long ago. Now there is only Bleck! The Dark Prognosticus's choice to fulfill the prophecy! Nothing more!" Nastasia tried to interject, but Count Bleck interrupts with, "Come to Count Bleck, heroes... If you hope to save these worlds, then come... BLEH HEH HEH HEH! BLECK!"

We now present the final episode of our serial drama of Timpani and Blumiere.
Blumiere's Father: Blumiere, my son, don't! Even your ancestors could not handle that dark book... If you open it, there's not telling what might happen!
Blumiere: I do not care, Father! A world without her is empty. A LIFE without her is empty. Speak, Dark Prognosticus! Teach your dark history. I await your command! BLEH HEH HEH! BLECK!
Father: Blumiere... What have you done?
Blumiere: Silence! The first prophecy beckons. I will erase every inch... of this blasted world!
Father: Blu-Blumiere! Don't do this! Blumiere!
Bleck: Blumiere is no more! I am Count Bleck! And no one shall stand in my way! BLEH HEH HEH! BLECK!

Something crumbles as Tippi says, "No, Blumiere! You musn't. Darling, how could you? Why?" Luigi tells her to snap out of it. Peach thought Tippi went back to town, but they found her lying there, not moving. She then started shouting loudly. Tippi says she's fine and apologizes. Peach asks if Blumiere's a person's name and if she remembered something from her past. Tippi says it's nothing. Luigi suggests that they tell Merlon that they found the last Pure Heart.

Back at Merlon's, Merlon says they've gathered all the Pure Hearts and the four heroes. Bowser says they'll just stomp Count Bleck and call it a day. Peach fears for the people who worry when they look at the sky. She wants them to act quickly and ease their hearts and minds. Merlon asks Tippi what troubles her. Tippi asks if they have to destroy Count Bleck to stop the prophecy. Merlon says that much of the prophecy has already come to pass, but they still must stop it. Count Bleck summoned the Chaos Heart and brought on this peril. Without him, the prophecy's power withers and all worlds avoid their ends. Tippi guesses she always knew that. Luigi asks what's the matter. Merlon asks if there was anything between her and Count Bleck, but she denies it. Merlon says to find the Heart Pillar, then go to the black tower in Flipside.

Go to the second floor outskirts of Flopside and go right to find the Heart Pillar. Even though the Pure Heart is white, it makes a large black and purple door appear on the top of Flopside Tower. Nolrem says the last door is there and that he'll wait for them there. He says to prepare themselves and meet him there. Go there to start the final chapter. Before I do, there are two things I want to take care of first.

Super Paper Mario -- Chapter 7-4: A Bone-Chilling Tale

White clouds as far as the eye could see... Mario and Co. had climbed through clouds and finally reached The Overthere. "Odd. No party springeth forth to welcome us," wondered Luvbi aloud. "It mattereth not. Father's shrine is just ahead, so we can walk there with ease." But they would not arrive the shrine as easily as Luvbi predicted. Why not? Because something unexpected and dramatic was about to happen...

In Overthere Sector 1, Luvbi says the heroes will soon meet her father, Grambi, so they should be on their best behavior. She also mentions that Queen Jaydes is her mother. Luvbi fell ill once and Grambi never left her bedside. Her parents are annoyingly overprotective and she thinks it's her own fault for being so cute, so they can't help it.

Cross the gap in the clouds to the pavilion and ride the cloud up so you can jump to the right. Go through the door to Sector 2 on the far right and someone calls for help. Some Skellobits have trapped a Nimbi. Defeat the Skellobits and the heroes will have the Nimbi's gratitude. Luvbi asks what happened and he explains that fell beasts have been flooding into The Overthere. They seek the Pure Heart for their foul plan. Luvbi says Grambi knows the location of the Pure Heart, which means he's in danger. The Nimbi gives them a Door Key. There are Pal Pills in the high item block on the right. At the end, flip to reveal that the last pillar is a pipe. It leads to a room with a Gigabyte. Defeat it for a chest with Cooking Disk PU. Climb up and you'll find more item blocks with a Super Shroom and a Ghoul Shroom. Climb up and to the left to find a frozen Nimbi. Use Bowser to thaw him out. He says he's been brought back to life, but wonders why he is here. He has amnesia. Leave the area.

Back in Sector 1, walk to the left to find some item blocks forming stairs. At the top is a pavilion with a locked door. Unlock it to reach Sector 3. There's a Save Block near the pavilion. Float to the right to find another frozen Nimbi. Thaw him and he reveals that he is Novbi and his girl is Fallbi. For saving his life, Novbi decides to do the heroes a favor. Fallbi suggests moving the "Thou-knowest-what" and Novbi flies to the left. You'll find him under the pavilion. He reveals that the pavilion is really The Overator, which works like an elevator. Go up and you'll find more frozen Nimbis and a door that leads to Sector 4.

In Sector 4, you'll find a large pavilion with many frozen Nimbis. The last Nimbi is Whibbi, who thanks them and calls them super. Luvbi asks about Grambi. Whibbi couldn't stop the Skellobits from entering Grambi's shrine and they destroyed the bridge leading to it. Bowser suggests rebuilding the bridge. Whibbi says they must find Rebbi, Blubi, and Yebbi and get their three orbs so they can rebuild the bridge. He gives them a Door Key. If you need to do a little shopping, there's an Itty Bits shop on the roof.

Go back to Sector 2 and talk to the Nimbi with amnesia. He remembers he is Blubi. Luvbi calls him "Dumbi" for taking so long to remember. She asks for the Blue Orb and he gives it to her. Go back to Sector 3 and go unlock the door to reach Sector 5.  Go to the left and climb up to reach a door to Sector 6. There's a Mushroom in an item block. Flip to find a path and you'll find an item block with a Mega Star. If you use Luigi, he'll be 8-bit Fire Luigi, but won't be able to throw fireballs. Go through the area to defeat the Skellobits. When you return to normal, flip to reveal another path. Go right to find a restroom. Knock on the door and someone asks if the beasts are gone. They then asks who knocked. Answer "A Monster" and they'll claim that whoever knocked is lying, as no monster would admit to being a monster. They then realize that the person knocking isn't a monster and come out of the restroom. It's Yebbi. Luvbi orders him to give them the Yellow Orb or she'll tell everyone how long he hid in there.

Return to Sector 5. Hit the red switch on the pavilion to make it move to the right (hitting it again will make it go to the left). There's a pavilion on solid ground with a Shooting Star on the roof. The door on the pavilion leads to Sector 8, where you'll find a Slow Flower in an item block and Boomerang Bros. There are several arches in the area. Over one is an item block containing a Happy Flower over a brick block. On the far right is the Nimbi called Maybi. He won't respond and he's probably faking it. Leave him be and return to Sector 5. Flip to find a door behind the pavilion. This leads to Sector 7. Drop down and you'll find a large chest. Open it an a Nimbi appears, having executed his escape attempt. The chest contains a most valuable treasure- him. Luvbi asks why he's in there while The Overthere was being overrun with beasts. The Nimbi admits to getting stuck during his escape act, so he's been hiding. He gives them an Ultra Shroom Shake as proof of his generosity. Go back up and float to the right. You'll find Rebbi attacking some Skellobits. The heroes walk in and he's thankful for reinforcements, as his strength is giving out. Defeat the Skellobits and Rebbi says he owes them. He gives them the Red Orb, saying that it is not given lightly.

With all three orbs, return to Sector 4, where Whibbi is. Walk to the right to find a pedestal. Place all three orbs in the pedestal and the clouds shake. The pixelated rainbow bridge falls into place. Whibbi tells them to save Grambi. Head over the bridge to the shrine. Go through the door and a Skellobit tells the heroes to hold it. It wonders how they got in after they destroyed the bridge. Luvbi asks how Grambi is, threatening to end all that is the Skellobit if he's hurt. The Skellobit calls her a brat and tells his allies to fall in. Lots of Skellobits appear. Rebbi appears, saying his strength has returned. He calls in the Nimbi Brigade and the two armies battle in the air. There are some Skellobits on the ground that the heroes have to get past. Flip behind the stairs to the shrine to find a chest with a Spiky Skellobit card. Go up the stairs, heal with the Ultra Shroom in the item block and save.

Go through the door. Luvbi freaks out, seeing Grambi stooped over, thinking he's hurt. Grambi says Luvbi shouldn't have come and tells her to flee. Someone says that this is a touching scene. It's a mechanical beast, the boss of all the crazy guys who escaped The Underwhere, according to Luigi. He is Bonechill, an evil celebrity in The Underwhere. Luvbi says that Grambi will never give him the Pure Heart, so he should give up. Bonechill calls her an ignorant child, amused that she doesn't know anything. He reveals that the Pure Heart is her. The Pure Heart was hidden to keep out of the hands of evil types. Grambi transformed it into a Nimbi that he called his own daughter. He asks her if she really thinks Grambi pays her any attention out of love. Bonechill says Grambi can weigh the sins of others, but not his own. Tippi tells Luvbi to get Grambi to safety and the two leave the shrine. Bonechill thanks the heroes for delivering the Pure Heart. Once he defeats them, he'll be invincible. He says to consider it an honor to have their game ended by his talons.

Bonechill has 80 HP and 4 attack. He has ice breath and summons and spews icicles. Only his head should be attacked, by either Super Jumping or throwing icicles with Thoreau. Super Jumping is the best way so you can repeatedly stomp him and rack up stylish combos. Once you win, he calls his defeat impossible. He asks how the heroes could destroy the master of cold dark. He then falls apart.

Grambi and Luvbi return. Grambi says they've saved the realm. Luvbi asks if what Bonechill said was a lie. Queen Jaydes appears, saying she came when she didn't receive word of Luvbi's safe arrival. Luvbi asks them if they are her parents. Queen Jaydes pauses, but confirms that Luvbi isn't their child. She explains the Pure Heart was always in danger of falling into the wrong hands, so they transformed it into a shape none would suspect. There's a flash of light and the Pure Heart appears from Luvbi for an instant. Grambi says that Luvbi is unstable and the Pure Heart struggles against the Luvbi identity. It seeks to return to its true form and senses someone near worthy of possessing it. Luvbi starts to consider that she is meant to be with Mario and that he may be her prince. She thinks the idea stinks and that Mario is completely wrong for her. She says she'll return to her true form and go with Mario. Grambi says if she does, Luvbi will no longer exist. Luvbi says she remembers being the Pure Heart and all worlds will end if she does not go with him. She wonders why she bothers to explain herself as Grambi and Queen Jaydes are not her parents. She gets angry with them, asking how many times they scolded her when they knew she wasn't long for this world. She suffered an angry fake father and a nagging fake mother who should have let her have fun. She asks how they plan to make up for the fact that she didn't have a life. Grambi says not to talk to her mother that way and thinks her sass will end when she changes forms. Luvbi says she'll change forms regardless, as it will be a relief. Grambi calls her an ungrateful brat and reminds her that he lingered by her bedside when she was ill. Luvbi scoffs at his lingering and asks for the present back that she bought with her allowance. Grambi asks who gave her that allowance and reminds her that she lied about buying schoolbooks to get it. Luvbi asks how he dares lecture her on lying and asks why he thinks she lied. She thought they would be happy. She hates them and they are not her real parents.

Queen Jaydes says that's enough. She says the reason Luvbi was created is true, but they came to love her as their true daughter. They wanted to be with her for all time and to protect her. She became a part of them. Queen Jaydes thinks that perhaps they were wrong to create her and apologizes if they only caused her pain. Luvbi says not to apologize and thanks them. The Pure Heart wants to assume its original form. She asks Tippi to take care of the real her and save the world as her final wish. It would be unkind of Tippi if she didn't. Tippi understands. Luvbi bids farewell to her parents and apologizes for lying, saying she really loves them both. She slowly transforms into the Pure Heart. Grambi asks the prophesied heroes to take his dear daughter, the Pure Heart and swear to prevail. He wants no one to feel this sadness. The heroes take the Pure Heart and the Pixls dance.

End Of Chapter
"Heroes... My daughter wanted thee to save all worlds. 'Twas her final wish." Grambi spoke slowly through his tears as the brave Nimbis cleaned up The Overthere. Draped in sadness, Queen Jaydes walked slowly to her palace in The Underwhere. Mario, his friends, and the eighth Pure Heart were all that remained... This Pure heart came at a high price. Let us hope it was all worthwhile.

Super Paper Mario -- Chapter 7-3: The Forbidden Apple

Our heroes had found their way out of the dark and confusion of The Underwhere. Mario and friends now saw the sun shining brightly against a beautiful blue sky. This was the sky paradise Grambi called home, a place of joy called The Overthere. Somewhere above the never-ending layers of clouds waited Grambi himself. Mario and his friends began to make their way up that fluffy road to above...

The heroes have reached the bottom of the Overthere Stair. Luvbi is happy to see blue skies again, even though The Void is here, too. She says they have to keep climbing to reach The Overthere. Tippi says they haven't found Peach yet. Luvbi asks if Peach is Mario's lady friend. Peach isn't his girlfriend, so Luvbi thinks it's a one-sided crush. She goes on ahead, saying if the heroes climb too slowly, the sun will set.

On some of the larger clouds, you'll find numbers of the steps, so I'll be referring to them. Each set of 10 steps forms a stair. At the top is a door leading to the next stair. You'll find Parabuzzies here. In the item blocks, you'll find a Super Shroom. Take the yellow platform up and you'll encounter an Ice Cherbil. If you find that you're stuck trying to go up, flip to check your surroundings, Super Jump, or look for a yellow platform. Flip and you'll find some flip blocks. On stair 15, you'll find a large Jump-Over Cloud. They're very bouncy, so treat them like springs. They'll launch you up several steps. On Stair 17, you'll find a Slow Flower in an item block. On Stair 19 is another Jump-Over Cloud. On Stair 20 is the door to Stair 2.

On Stair 21, hit the item blocks for a fast flower and some Zombie Shrooms so you can rack up points and coins quickly. Go up a few clouds to reach a Save Block. There's a Jump-Over Cloud on Stair 23 and 24, which is a little below Stair 23. Flip to find coins on Stair 24. On Stair 25 are a couple of Rawbuses and a chest with a Rawbus card. On Stair 28, you'll find Ruff Puffs, who'll shoot a ball of electricity at you.

There's a Jump-Over Cloud on Stair 31. On Stair 33 is a door which leads to a tree bearing Blue Apples. They'll heal 5 HP. Use Thudley to knock them from the tree. You'll find a chest with a Ruff Puff card on Stair 34. On the left side, on Stair 37, flip to find some item blocks that allow you to cross to the right side.

On the right side, near Stairs 41 and 42, you'll find some blocks. There are flipping Spinies here, thrown by flipping Lakitus. You'll find a Jump-Over Cloud between Stairs 44 and 45. On 46, you'll find a door leading to Red Apples and a Happy Flower. Be sure to hold onto at least one Red Apple. Drop down to 43 to find a door and a Save Block. The door leads to a tree, with Peach sleeping underneath it. The bros and Bowser try to wake her up, to no avail. Tippi mentions that Peach can really sleep. Luvbi flies in and notices that Peach ate the golden fruit. There are many magical trees in The Overthere, whose fruits have many effects. The Golden Apple makes people so satisfied that they'll sleep for 100 years. Bowser's not that patient. Luvbi mentions a tree that grows taboo fruit that would wake anyone. She then starts pouting that everyone holds Peach in such high regard, so she decides not to help, but go sulk instead. At this point, you can leave, or try giving Peach some apples that you've collected. The Red Apple will make her grow much taller, wake up, freak out, then return to normal size and fall back asleep. The Blue Apple will make her shrink, then return to normal size without waking her up.

Return to the Overthere Stair. Go onto the left side and take two yellow platforms up (they'll move right next to each other). You'll find a chest with a Shroom Shake. On Stair 48, you'll find a Jump-Over Cloud. To the left, you'll find a sign. Flip in front of it to find a door leading to the tree with Yellow Apples. If given to Peach, she'll wake up, grow a mustache, freak out, ask for some lip wax, then fall asleep. The mustache will disappear.

On Stair 51, go through the door on the left and flip to find the tree with Pink Apples. They will make Peach turn into a Peachy Peach, then return to normal. On Stair 52 is a coin block cleverly disguised as a brick block and a Mushroom in an item block. Take the yellow platform up to Stair 53 and flip to find a door leading to the tree of Black Apples. Give it to Peach and she wakes up, calling it gross. She asks what they gave her to eat. Luigi is happy that it worked. Peach is excited that Luigi is safe. Bowser says her concerned husband is here. Peach ignores that and asks where they are, as she can't remember. Tippi explains that Dimentio's attack sent her to The Overthere. Luvbi asks if she's awake. Luvbi says she's taking these travelers to the Overthere. Peach is pleased to make Luvbi's acquaintance, but Luvbi isn't so pleased, telling the princess of silly peaches to not dawdle. Luvbi leaves to climb ahead. Peach wonders if she said something rude. Tippi says not to worry about it. Peach apologizes for causing the other heroes trouble, but she's happy to see them. Now that Peach has rejoined the party, platforming will be easier.

Back on Stair 52 is a door. Go through it and bars appear on the door. Skellobits are in the area. They're creatures from The Underwhere who carry spears. Defeat them all to go back through the door. On Stair 53 is a Jump-Over Cloud. On Stair 54, climb up the blocks, then float to the other side. On Stair 55, you'll find one of many Jump-Over Clouds in the area that lead to Stair 6.

On Stair 61, you'll find a Flip Cursya, which will flip the directions on the D-Pad. Leave it alone or use Piccolo to remove the curse. To the left, a yellow platform will appear between two brick blocks. Transfer to another yellow platform and you'll see arches in the sky. Stand on them and flip for item blocks. On Stair 62 is a brick block that's actually a coin block. On Stair 63 is a Jump-Over Cloud. There are coins on Stair 65 and a Slow Cursya on Stair 68. The chest near it has a Long-Last Shake. Take the yellow platform to a series of narrow pillars. Use Peach to cross them. There's chest with a Thunder Rage on Stair 69.

On Stair 71, flip near the item blocks to find more item blocks. One has a Super Shroom. There's also a Jump-Over Cloud. There's another on Stair 72. Near Stair 73 are some pillars. Near Stair 74 is a yellow platform that leads to a chest with a Life Shroom. Go up and you'll find a pavilion and a cloud. The switch next to him makes a pipe appear. Talk to the cloud and you'll find his name is Cyrrus. He wants to be a big cloud. He heard about a guy getting bigger by eating a mushroom and wants to eat something that will make him bigger, as well. You can feed him any of the apples you have and they'll do the same things as they did to Peach. The pipe nearby will take you back to Stair 43 so you can get a Red Apple, which he needs. He grows and calls himself Super Cyrrus. He's super bouncy, to the point that he launches the heroes of the planet. They come back down and land on Stair 80. Flip under the roof of the pavilion to find some coins. Super Jump onto the pavilion to reach a chest with a gold bar. Go through the door and you'll find a sign that says, "Here Endeth Overthere Stair. The Overthere is Over There". Float across the gap to the star.

Super Paper Mario -- Chapter 7-2: The Sealed Doors Three

"I sought a prince, but nay! What I found were ancient men of hairy cheek." "'Twas a horror, yea, and one that left my breath stricken in my throat." Luvbi kept up this refrain as she traveled with our heroes. She seemed less than happy. Still, she DID have a lot of energy... "Hasten thy chubby legs! Times waits not for those who slack!" Luigi, on the other hand, was elated that he and his brother were finally reunited. But Peach and Bowser were still nowhere to be found... Were they safe? ... So thought our heroes as they made their way slowly to Underwhere Road.

Luvbi announces that they have reached Underwhere Road, the way out of The Underwhere. Tippi asks if they keep going upward, they'll eventually reach The Overthere. Luvbi says that is obvious. Her heart weeps to return to The Overthere without meeting her true love. She then asks Tippi if she believes in soul mates. Tippi stammers, but doesn't really answer. Luvbi marks her as "undecided" or "unrequited". Tippi stammers some more, but Luvbi says she was only tweaking Luvbi's chain. Luvbi decides to go on ahead, challenging them to catch her if they can. Tippi calls her an entirely unstable walking mood swing.

Go through the door and you'll enter a dark area. Move carefully as you'll be doing some vertical platforming. Luvbi will always be just ahead of you, so follow her. In the darkness, you may encounter Underhands, so be careful. There are a couple of flipping platforms in the area, as well as some Dark Boos, who can flip. About halfway up, drop down to the right to find a chest with a Dark Boo card. On the way, you'll find item blocks with some Mushrooms. At the top is a door that's sealed shut. Use Tippi's power on it and it starts talking. It notes that travelers have come. He informs the heroes that Queen Jaydes demands that he guard the door, as there are many monsters prowling about. He is Dorguy the First and, as a routine check, will ask some questions to determine if they are trustworthy. If all questions are answered correctly, he'll let them through. These are story problems, but you can largely ignore the story.
1. Who is the most powerful person in The Underwhere? Queen Jaydes
2. What is my name? Dorguy the First
3. How many times did I just say the word "apple"? 6 times
After answering the questions correctly, he lets them through.

The door leads to a room with two locked doors and a Save Block. The ground is shaking. When you have a decent amount of health, talk to the D-Men guarding one of the doors. They say they're busy. Tippi explains that they must reach The Overthere, but don't know the way. The D-Men say the left door will lead them to The Overthere, but they can't open it for them as they've trapped a raging beast, who escaped its prison, behind the door they're guarding. They've locked both doors down for security. Someone must subdue the beast, and if the heroes do it, they'll unlock the door. Agree and the D-Men say they were only joking, but ask if the bros are nuts when they realize they've agreed. They agree to let them through the door, saying they'll mail the hero's mustache to their next of kin. The predict that the hero's game is about to end and unlock the door.

Go through the door and you'll hear a familiar roar. The torches light up, revealing Bowser wondering where he is, why jerks in shades keep jumping him, and why it's so dark. He complains that Peach isn't here and he's hungry. He wonders what he did to deserve this. He notices that the bros are in the room and asks where everyone else is, including Peach. Tippi explains they don't know and they're looking for her. Bowser definitely doesn't like the fact that Peach isn't here and thinks the bros want to break them up. Tippi denies it, but Bowser decides to stomp the truth out of them. Bowser has 80 HP, 8 attack, and 2 defense. He'll charge at the bros or breathe fire. Don't stomp him without Carrie due to the spikes. Keep attacking and you'll eventually win. Bowser asks why he always loses and what's wrong with him. He says he always gets back up every time, as many times as it takes to send the bros to The Underwhere. Luigi says they're already there. Bowser asks if he looks like a guy who's game is over. Tippi explains that Dimentio's attack sent them here and that she and Merlon didn't know about any of them. Bowser finally realizes that Peach is really lost somewhere and asks why they didn't say so. They could've been searching for her this entire time. He rejoins the party.

The heroes leave the room and the D-Men note that their games aren't over, so they think the heroes ran away from the fight. They're shocked to learn that the beast has been defeated. They thank them, calling the heroes "prime go-getters". They give the heroes the Door Key and the other D-Men leave to take care of other things. The remaining D-Man says to have someone light the torches with fire, but the torches will go out eventually.

Unlock the door and have Bowser out, using Carrie's power to move faster. Use his fire breath to light the torches. The Underhands disappear in the light. This area contains a lot of vertical platforming in a narrow space, so if you fall, you may lose a lot of progress. There are Dry Bones and Dark Boos here to help you to that end. Be sure to light every torch in the vertical area, as they are few and far between. About halfway up, drop down to the right to find a pipe. You'll find many coins in the room, but they'll quickly disappear. Return to the dark room and you'll find a door at the top. Use Tippi's power on it to get Dorguy the Second to talk to you. He'll display colorful shapes on a screen and ask questions about what appears, but he won't tell you if you got a question correct.
1. How many red objects were there? 3
2. How many triangles were there? 2
3. What color were the moving objects? Blue
4. Off the top of your head, what number question is this? 4
5. What shape was the most plentiful? Triangles
Once you answer all the questions, he'll say the heroes have very young brain ages, so they must be good people.

Go through the door to find a locked door and a pink door. The pink door leads to the room of the three women. They each have a favor to ask. The only one you need to do is the pink one's, Hagra's. She'll ask you to get a book she lent a D-Man and she'll warp you to his location. Talk to him to get the Diet Book back. You'll still have to climb your way back up to return it to her. She'll give you the Door Key as a reward. The blue one, Hagnes, will ask you to listen to her story of how she romantically pursued Grambi, but lost to another. The green one, Hagitha, will sent you to a D-Man to check a TV recording. Tell him the correct show and climb back up. She rewards you with information on how to deal with an Underwhere beast called the Underchomp. If it's favorite music is played, it will fall asleep.

Unlock the door and you'll find some rocks and a set of ascending stairs. Light the torches so you can see, then use Mario to climb the stairs, so he can flip to avoid the Spiny Tromps rolling down. Super Jump to reach the door at the top. Dorguy the Third is here and he asks if he can get a little Underchomp. He can and it appears, a set of three Chomps, each a primary color. If the heroes are worthy, they should be able to beat it. Things turn into an Earthbound-style battle. Use Piccolo to put each Underchomp to sleep for a few turns, then attack with Bowser for the most damage. When they wake up, use Piccolo again. You'll get 6,000 points for winning. Dorguy the Third allows them through to reach the star.

Super Paper Mario -- Chapter 7-1: Subterranean Vacation

Dimentio's savage attack had separated Mario from his friends. He had reunited with Luigi, yes, but Peach and Bowser were still missing. Just where were those two? And what new dangers lay ahead? It was time to venture through the door opened by the seventh Pure Heart. Once again, Mario saw a nightmarish landscape beyond imagination...

Mario and Luigi find themselves back in The Underwhere. Tippi wonders what sort of world this dark place is. Luigi mentions that they just came from here. Tippi wonders why the Pure Heart led them here. If you talk to the first Shayde, it'll think it's funny that the heroes say this is their second time here. Go through the door, go over the pipes with Luigi, then cross the River Twygz with Carrie.

Queen Jaydes asks why they return. Tippi introduces herself and explains that they're here this time to find the Pure Heart. Queen Jaydes is shocked, then thinks they may be the heroes of the Light Prognosticus. Tippi asks if she has the Pure Heart. Queen Jaydes says the Pure Heart's location is of the utmost secrecy and she can't tell them. They must speak to Grambi, king of The Overthere. Luvbi appears, saying she's packed her things and is ready to return to The Overthere. She notices the bros have returned and asks if their games truly ended. Queen Jaydes asks the bros to take Luvbi back to The Overthere. Tippi asks why they'd need to and Queen Jaydes explains that a monster was once held underneath here and a recent earthquake freed it, so it wanders freely. She can't send her daughter alone with such a beast on the loose. If they agree to take Luvbi, she'll open the way to The Overthere and alert Grambi of their arrival and their request for the Pure Heart. She and her D-Men are too busy trying to contain the damage. A door appears and Queen Jaydes instructs them to keep heading upward and make sure Luvbi arrives safely into the care of Grambi.

Luvbi suggests that they not look at her while they climb or they may succumb to her cuteness. Tippi says the bros are not that superficial. Luvbi notes Tippi's sharp tongue and thinks she may be jealous. She asks if Tippi pines for the hairy twins and if she prefers the red one or the green one. Tippi is confused and stammers. Luvbi says Tippi is blushing and flustered, so she may have a crush on one of the bros that burns as hot as 1,000 suns. Go through the door to reach the star.

Super Paper Mario -- The Underwhere

Mario wakes up in a dark world. Someone says hi and asks if it's his first time in The Underwhere. It's a joke, as people don't arrive here twice. Mario asks what this place is and the Shayde says it's where people go when their game is over. It's also called World -1. The Shayde asks how Mario's game ended, but Mario says his game's not over. The Shayde says he's in denial and that he'll hear the truth from Queen Jaydes, the scariest person in The Underwhere, who rules over the Shaydes. None of the Pixls are with you, nor Bowser or Peach, but you still have your items. Walk to the right to find a fountain. Stand in it to fully restore your health. To the right is a Save Block and a door.

Go through the door and someone hums to themselves. It's an angel-like being, speaking in an older version of English, wondering if she'll meet her most special someone today. She believes it will be a prince of fair countenance who is pining to meet her. She commands him to fly to her. She looks at Mario and scowls, asking why he's staring at her. He didn't hear her pine for an old, mustached fatty and tells him to be gone. In the area are tall pipes and spikes. Flip to get around them, but you'll have to keep switching between the front path and the back path. At the end is a tall pipe. Flip to find a flip block so you can reach the Super Shroom Shake on top of the pipe. Go through the door.

There's a wide river and a boat. You can pay money to cross the river, the River Twygz, or just swim across. Avoid the hands in the water, which are called Underhands. They can't be defeated and will hurt you. Go through the door on the other side of the river to reach a palace. One of the Shaydes says that Mario should talk to Queen Jaydes, who knows all the bad things everyone's done in life. If a person was good, they get to go to The Overthere. If not, they'll suffer in The Underwhere. Talk to Queen Jaydes, the mistress of The Underwhere. She's the ruler of those with ended games and weighs the sins from one's time among the living. If they're light enough, one gets to experience the bliss of The Overthere. She senses a strange energy and asks if Mario brought anything strange into The Underwhere. Mario hands her the Pure Heart and she is shocked. It is badly damaged. She wonders who Mario is to have it and asks what happened. She then gets a call from Grambi, saying that Luvbi is missing. She and her D-Men are already shorthanded, so she asks Mario's help to find Luvbi, a Nimbi who vanished. Agree to help and she'll take the Pure Heart, promising to return it when he returns with Luvbi. She gives Mario a Door Key, saying a strange fellow dressed in green fell into the River Twygz, who definitely is not Luvbi. She says to check there first anyone and says the key opens the door to the underground waterways.

Drop down into the River Twygz and avoid the Underhands. Flip at the bottom to find a hole that leads to a locked door. Unlock it. Swim up and over the ledge and push a block down to the right. Drop down and throw the switch to drain the water. Go up and right to find some brick blocks. Break them, then throw the switch again to fill the area with water. Swim up and to the right. Flip to find a path out of the area. Flip to reach a block and push it down to the left. Drop down and throw the switch to drain the water. Hit the brick block for a ladder. Flip to find a path out of the area. Go through the pipe and flip for some coins. Go through the door to the right and drop down. Flip and go back to find a hidden chest with a Dry Bones card. Climb up the fountains to the right to find someone groaning. Mr. L's music starts playing. It's a man in a green cap, wondering how he ended up in this lousy place. He remembers being grabbed by Count Bleck's underlings. He wants someone to help him. Mario greets him and Luigi freaks out. He remembers his brother and missed him a lot. He asks why Mario's here, saying he doesn't know where he is. Mario explains and Luigi can't believe he's in the land of ended games. He thinks Count Bleck's baddies did him in like they did in Mario. He takes it well, saying everyone runs out of extra lives. He wonders what to do and Mario explains he's looking for Luvbi. Luigi agrees, saying he has lots of free time now that his game is over. He joins the party. Hold Down on the Control Pad, then release to do a Super Jump to reach high ledges and attack enemies. Luigi wants to jump for joy. Flip to find a Long-Last Shroom Shake in the corner, then Super Jump to reach the door.

Use the Super Jump to quickly go through the waterways, then head to the left after getting out of the River Twygz. Super Jump over the pipes until you reach the door, then Super Jump on the pipes to the left of the door, without going through it. There are Ice Piranhas here, as well as a Poison Cherbil. In the high item block, you'll find a Happy Flower. Just to the right is a tall pipe with an Ice Piranha. It leads to the background. Go through the other pipe in the background to reach a pipe in the background below. Go through the other pipe in the area and it takes you to a room with a Gigabyte, a flying skull that will only take 1 HP of damage per hit. It has 6 HP and will give you many coins when you defeat it. Defeating it will also make a chest with the Peach (3) card appear. Return to the foreground and go through the door. You'll hear the angel-like creature humming again. Flip to get past the pipes with the Ice Piranhas and talk to her. She tells her sweet prince to hasten to her. She sees the Mario bros, and calls them aging men of mustache. She asks what they want and they explain they came to find her. She refuses to consort with such hairy faces and wants only princes to approach her. She asks if they claim to be her prince, and if so, they should know her name. Tell her her name is Luvbi and she taunts them, but is shocked when they know her name. The thought of them being her prince can't be abided and she won't date a man so old and unpleasant to the eye. She decides to return to her mother.

Return to Queen Jaydes and Luvbi says the foul, hairy creatures return at last. She calls them liars as they weren't princes, but found her at the request of her mother. Queen Jaydes tells Luvbi to mind her manners and says she sent them because she wandered off without permission. She tells her to apologize and Luvbi says she is sorry that the Mario Bros are so hairy. Queen Jaydes says Luvbi had them worried. She gives back the purple Pure Heart, fully restored, as a sign of gratitude. She has power over life and death, so she restored the Pure Heart. She says the fact that the Pure Heart survived means fate is on their side. She also explains that Mario's and Luigi's games are not truly over and they were sent to The Underwhere alive. She can allow them to return. She chants her name, then Game Over several times, then Continue.

The bros end up on Flipside Tower. Tippi says Mario is alive and Merlon was sure Mario's game had ended, but is marveled that he is truly alive. Luigi says his bro bounces back and that he bounces, too. Back in Merlon's house, Luigi introduces himself as his bro's bro. Tippi asks if they've met before, but Luigi doesn't remember. Tippi thinks he may be the fourth hero. The Light Prognosticus says the seventh Pure Heart will draw together two men and its brilliance will shine on the way to the last hero. Tippi says she never stopped believing Mario would return and asks about Peach and Bowser, thinking they could come back as well. She says to find the next Heart Pillar.

Go to the B1 Flopside Outskirts. Use the Super Jump to jump onto the tall wall, then flip. Drop down to the back to find a chest with a Piccolo card. On the other side of the wall on the front side is the Heart Pillar. Place the Pure Hear to make the purple door appear. Tippi says they must act quickly to stop Blumiere. She then wonders who Blumiere is.

Super Paper Mario -- Interlude After Chapter 6

In Castle Bleck, Nastasia informs Count Bleck that Dimentio reported that Mr. L was insubordinate by taking on a hero-fighting initiative. She accepts full responsibility and says her administrative breakdown allowed it to occur. "I see, remarked Count Bleck... Well, what is done is done. This prophecy will not be fulfilled without sacrifice." Nastasia reports that Mimi also left the castle. "Did she, now? Well, Count Bleck will leave you to dispense the minion discipline." Nastasia remarks that Count Bleck seems different. She asks if he got a new monocle or if something happened. "Count Bleck feels fine... Leave me..." She leaves, and he monologues, "......Could that Pixl have been... Timpani?" He shakes his head, saying, "No, no completely impossible. I should know that better than anyone. Besides, it's far too late to do anything now. The prophecy has been set in motion and no one, not even I can stop it. No one can stop this now..." He leaves after referring to himself in the first person.

We now return to our serial drama of Timpani and Blumiere.
Blumiere: Timpani! What did you do with her? I must see her!
Blumiere's Father: Still your tongue, Blumiere... Can't you see you've been duped by a dirty human? You have brought shame to my name... and to the entire Tribe of Darkness!
Blumiere: And so what if I did? That doesn't matter to me! She's my entire world!
Father: Well, then it will interest you to know... that she no longer resides in this world.
Blumiere: What... What do you mean by that?!
Father: This is the price those who resist their own fate must pay, my son.
Blumiere: She... No... It can't be so!
Father: Someday you will see, Son. Our kind and humans must never mix.

The heroes have returned to Flipside. When you're ready, go to see Merlon. He asks if they have the seventh Pure Heart. Tippi asks him to look at it. He asks what happened and Tippi explains that The Void consumed the world and left the Pure Heart like this. Merlon says he can't feel the typical energy from it and says it will do nothing if placed in a Heart Pillar. Tippi asks how they can save him, and everyone, from destruction. Merlon says they must defeat Count Bleck, but they need eight Pure Hearts.

Dimentio appears, saying how forlorn the group of heroes cries. There is no way in this world to restore the Pure Heart, making all their hard work in vain. Bowser remarks that that stinks. Dimentio offers a consolation prize by drawing boxes around Mario, Peach, and Bowser, then sets off explosions in each of them. The three heroes disappear and Merlon freaks out, asking what happened. Tippi asks where they went and Dimentio says he fulfilled their wishes and sent them to the next world. He introduces himself as their enemy who serves Count Bleck and leaves.

Bayonetta 2 Direct -- 9/4/14

Nintendo and Platinum Games have lots of news about Bayonetta 2.

Bayonetta 2 will be a "Non-Stop Climax Action" game. Bayonetta is one of the last surviving Umbra Witches. She can use a variety of spells. Her main style of attacking is called "Bullet Arts", where she uses four guns: two in her hands and two in her shoes. Her magic power is in her hair. Her clothes are also made of her hair. She can use magic to summon Infernal Demons from Inferno this way. She kills enemies without mercy.

Returning characters include Jeanne, who has longer hair than last time, Rodin, Luka, and Enzo. This time, Bayonetta heads into Inferno to rescue Jeanne, who tried to protect her, but had her soul dragged down to Inferno. On the way, Bayonetta must battle with both Angels and Demons. Battles take place in the human world, Paradiso, and Inferno. She will also encounter a powerful boy named Loki and the Masked Lumen.

The Angels take on a similar appearance as in the first game: godly, yet evil-looking. Their appearance changes with their hierarchy in Paradiso. Demons, residents of Inferno, appear for the first time. They live without order and power is everything. They have a more inorganic look compared to Angels.

Combat involves building up huge combos. (X) is for punching, (A) is for kicking. Hold either button to start shooting in the direction you're currently facing. Continuously press the buttons to use combo attacks. Different button combinations lead to different combos. Experiment and you may unleash incredibly powerful attacks. Use the Immortal Marionette to attack by just pressing buttons in Automatic Mode. You can also have Bayonetta attack using the Touch Screen. Witch Time is activated by dodging attacks at the last second. This slows down time so you can inflict greater damage. This will also allow you to charge up your magic power. The Magic Gauge is under Bayonetta's health meter. Once filled, they allow you to execute powerful attacks, such as Torture Attacks, which differ depending on the enemy being attacked. New to the series is the Umbran Climax, which increases her magic power and range, making the summoned Infernal demons more violent. Torture attacks are good for a single enemy, while Umbran Climax attacks are better for many enemies in a wide area. Dodge Offset allows you to dodge enemies repeatedly, while still keeping up your combo.

Some of Bayonetta's weapons can be equipped to either her hands or feet, allowing for different combos. There are many different weapons, so you can customize them for your fighting style. Two combo attacks can be preset to further customize the load-out to your fighting style.

The story mode is divided into chapters, each with many stages. Bayonetta will fight in the air and underwater, not just on the ground. She can also fight will riding in various vehicles. Scores given at the end of the level are based on number of combos, clear time, and damage received, which adds replayability. The highest score is Pure Platinum. There are hidden rooms called Muspelheim in the stages. They offer challenging battles with certain clear conditions, such as never cutting off the combo until the enemy is defeated. They may allow you to discover new combos and techniques. Halos are the form of currency in the game. Use them to purchase items, weapons, accessories, and costumes and Rodin's store. As you play, you can obtain records called Angelic Hymns. Rodin uses them to create new weapons. Purchase duplicates of weapons to equip them to both Bayonetta's hands and feet. You can also purchase skills. Some of the costumes are inspired by Nintendo characters, including Peach, Daisy, Star Fox, Link, and Samus. They add extra attacks and effects.

Tag Climax is an online-only two-player cooperative mode. You pick a Verse Card to select the stage. Characters other than Bayonetta, including Jeanne and Rodin, will be playable. You can earn Halos for story mode and challenge more powerful enemies in Tag Climax by betting those Halos. You'll win more Halos as a reward for increasing the difficulty. There are six stages and the game lets you know who won each stage. The better a player does, the more Halos they earn. If a player falls in battle, the other player can choose to leave them or revive them.

The game will be released on October 24. Both Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 are included on the physical copies. The games can be purchased separately on the eShop.

Super Paper Mario -- Chapter 6-1

The heroes go back through the door that leads to Chapter 6. What they find is a completely white world. Tippi says there's nothing left here and it can't be the beautiful world they were in before. She feels the Pure Heart, but faintly. She can't believe that anything's left and suggests they take a look around. Use Carrie to get around faster in this barren wasteland. You'll find bits of debris here and there. After a long while, Tippi will see something. It's a gray, stone-like heart. It's the Pure Heart, which somehow survived the world's obliteration, but something seems odd about it.

Someone laughs, calling the place pretty bland. Mr. L drops in, saying it looks like the Pure Heart is broken and couldn't handle the end of the world. He decides to swipe it for kicks. If you have Peach out, he calls her gorgeous and says this chaos wasteland is no place for a stunner like her. Peach demands that he remove his mask. He changes the topic to the Dark Prognosticus. Anything the count doesn't like never existed. He decides to leave, saying to stay out of Count Bleck's business if they want to live. Peach says even he, a masked man wouldn't watch a world die without feeling anything. She says he must see that Count Bleck's plan is mad. He asks if the heroes are pushing for a fight. He won't disappoint them and launches the new and improved Brobot. This one has arms and feet and is sporting the latest in brobotics. He calls it Brobot L-Type. Mr. L tells Peach to try not to get kidnapped before she's defeated.

Brobot L-Type has 64 HP, 5 attack, and 4 defense. It has 8 defense against fire. It can attack with its hands and tackle, as well as throw its mustache, shoot missiles, and do everything that Brobot could. It's weak to explosions, so place Boomer near where its feet are or will be, and press (1) again to make Boomer explode. Once you defeat it, Mr. L says there's no way Brobot L-Type should have been defeated, as it shoots missiles. He drops the Pure Heart when he lands on the ground. He calls it preposterous and wonders why he can't win. Tippi suggests that he keeps losing because he's weak. Mr. L growls, saying the heroes can laugh now, but he never forgets. He leaves, leaving Peach to think she's met him before. Tippi notices he dropped the Pure Heart, which looks like a rock. It has no sparkle left. She suggests they take it back to Merlon.

End Of Chapter

Elsewhere, Mr. L says he can't seem to beat the heroes. Dimentio asks if they wounded his fragile pride and demolished his robot again. Mr. L is stumped, thinking a giant robot would be enough to crush the heroes. He's a disgrace and can't show his face to Count Bleck after this. Dimentio says this is probably for the best and uses a little flame magic on him. Mr. L asks what he's doing. Dimentio says Mr. L can't go back, so he should get lost. Mr. L doesn't find it funny, but if he wanted to laugh, Dimentio's face is inspiration enough. Dimentio comments on his temper, saying his nostrils flare out like the hood of a hissing cobra. He can't have Mr. L around the count, but if he gets rid of him here, he won't be found out and Mr. L will never be found. This is his moment to grasp. He says it's time for Mr. L's final bow and summons a box around him. Mr. L freaks out, saying Dimentio's lost his mind. Dimentio promises that this won't be so bad. He'll send the heroes his way soon so he'll have someone to play with. He sets off explosions in the box while Mr. L wails. Dimentio leaves.

The destruction of an entire world was a great and terrible tragedy. But Mario and his allies had survived the cataclysm and found another Pure Heart. The end of that world had dulled the shine of the Pure Heart they had found. Was the Pure Heart's power lost forever? The heroes set out for Flipside to find out..

For some reason, the music for the start of the chapter plays.

Super Paper Mario -- Chapter 6-2: The End of a World

With The Void encompassing the entire sky, the end of the world was at hand. The pressure was on for the heroes to find all the remaining Pure Hearts. Would regal King Sammer be willing to part with his most precious treasure? Leaving an army of Sammer Guys in his wake, Mario stepped into the palace...

Inside King Sammer's pink palace, King Sammer says the heroes have arrived. He received word of their run in with Count Bleck, meaning that the legends are true. Tippi asks for the Pure Heart. King Sammer says they haven't defeated all 100 Sammer Guys but the situation is grave. He says the Pure Heart sits on the 26th gate. Go onstage and open the chest. A bomb that resembles Boomer explodes. King Sammer asks why that explosion didn't even turn the heroes black with soot. He says it stinks that they're not hurt. He flips over to them, asking if they thought that they'd just grab the Pure Heart. Calling them dumb, King Sammer reveals that he is actually Mimi in disguise. She says the real King Sammer is napping while the world ends. Tippi tells her to get out of the way, as time is of the essence. Mimi explains that she's here to get in the way. She's not soft and cuddly like the count. It's bedtime for the heroes.

Peach is a good choice for the first part of this battle, as is Thoreau. Mimi has 25 HP and 2 attack. She'll surround herself with Rubees and throw them to attack. Throw the Rubees back to make her Rubee shield disappear and attack her. After she takes enough damage, she'll flip into 3D. Go after her with Mario. When you defeat her, she says that really hurt and the heroes are a bunch of bullies who hit cute little girls. This doesn't matter, as everything's perfect. The Void is even larger in the sky. Mimi got them to waste what precious little time they had left. She says they should give up trying to look for the Pure Heart. Tippi says this psychotic girl was only trying to stall them. Mimi says she warned them she was meaner than the count. She can't stay and play with them more, as the world is about to go kablooey. She leaves.

Go through the door and cross more gates. The Sammer Guys will let you pass. The shaking becomes even more violent and The Void flashes. One Sammer Guy laughs in desperation, saying they're not going to make it. Tippi says it can't end like this. The Void flashes and the sky goes white.

Tippi says it feels like she knows Count Bleck from somewhere. The heroes wake up on Flipside Tower and Tippi says she did know him, but doesn't remember how or when, nor who he is. Bowser asks what's going on. Tippi says she's a little discombobulated and it's hard to say what happened, but they returned to Flipside. Peach wonders what happened to King Sammer and his Sammer Guys, as well as the Pure Heart. Tippi says the door to the world still exists, so she suggests that they go back through the door.

Super Paper Mario -- Chapter 6-1: Sammer Guy Showdown

Under the looming shadow of The Void, the world slowly drifted toward demise. But not all hope was lost: two Pure Hearts had yet to be found. Could our daring heroes find them? Or was the world doomed to be devoured? Mario, Peach, and Bowser ventured through the next door to find out.

The door leads to the Sammer's Kingdom, a place of Japanese architecture and music. Tippi notes that The Void is enormous here, much bigger than in Flipside. This dimension is close to destruction, so they must hurry. Go through the door on the right. Heronicus says he yields and is shamed. Someone says that he disgraces his family's honor and that he is an unworthy opponent. It is a man in armor, called a Sammer Guy. He is waiting for the hero of legend to show up, as time is running out. Walk on the stage and he says that the heroes wear crazy clothes. He is Jade Blooper, the guardian of the first gate. He will then battle the hero. Jade Blooper is a normal Sammer Guy who will hack at the heroes with his sword. Stomp on him, use Boomer, or use Bowser's fire breath to defeat him, ideally taking minimal damage.

Once you defeat him, he allows you to go to the next gate. Someone calls the battle splendid and comments on the heroes' performance and exotic garb. He is King Sammer, ruler of the Sammer Guys. He is amused by the heroes' fighting style and shows off his treasure, a Pure Heart. If the heroes defeat his 100 loyal vassals in a tournament, they will prove that they are the true heroes and get the Pure Heart.

Go to the next gate.
2. The next Sammer Guy is Hills With Eyes, a normal Sammer Guy with a sword.
3. Puffing Fist, a normal Sammer Guy with a sword.
4. Squatting Birdo, a normal Sammer Guy with a mace.
5. Leeping Cheep, a spiked normal Sammer Guy with a sword.
6. Master Wiggler, a normal Sammer Guy with a sword.
7. Shoe of Kuribo, normal with a mace.
8. Guy Who Fry, normal with a sword, who jumps.
9. Screaming Mantiss, normal with a mace.
10. Koopa in Winter, a large Sammer Guy with a club, who rolls.
11. Footsteps of Coin, a tiny Sammer Guy with a sword, who moves very quickly.
12. Urchin Lung, normal with a sword.
13. Crow Who Eats, normal with a sword, who creates shockwaves with his sword.
14. Swollen Tongue, spiked normal with a mace.
15. Slipping Grip, normal with a sword, who jumps.
16. Clammy Hand, normal with a sword, who jumps.
17. Forbidden Slap, normal with a sword, who jumps.
18. Hairy Arantula in the Grass, tiny with a sword, who moves very quickly.
19. Another Castle, normal with a sword, who jumps.
20. Rolling Thwomp, large with a club, who rolls.

After you defeat Rolling Thwomp, the ground shakes and The Void grows even larger. Tippi says they must hurry. "Hurry? Why not pause and savor the show? It is already far too late to stop... Count Bleck! BLEH HEH HEH HEH! BLECK! The prophecy unfolds smoothly, thanks to the Chaos Heart! The light of each world will be snuffed out one by one..." Tippi asks why he would do something so unspeakable. "You QUESTION Count Bleck?! This worthless world's destruction matters not! Far better for Count Bleck to wipe it out of existence than let it remain!" Tippi asks how he can say that, calling him horrible. "Count Bleck scoffs at you! An insignificant Pixl lectures Count Bleck on what is right and wrong?" Tippi calls it wrong and sick, and not up for discussion. She says he can't just erase living things, each with a priceless heart. "Of all things, you defend the heart? Nothing could be more worthless... All things... are meaningless. Aside from Timpani, no treasure mattered in the least to me..." Tippi stutters the name "Timpani". "Speak no more! This world is dying under the monocle gaze of... Count Bleck! But don't let that stop you from trying to find a Pure Heart you'll never acquire! BLEH HEH HEH HEH! BLECK!" Count Bleck leaves, after revealing that he was in love with Timpani, the woman mentioned in the interludes.

Rolling Thwomp leaves to tell King Sammer that the world will go squish soon. You can now pass through the next five gates unhindered, as the ground shakes. At the end, is the star.
